2017 "Adjunct Faculty Excellence" Award Recipients
Jean S. Applonie, Music: As conductor of the BYU Women’s Chorus, Jean S. Applonie is solely responsible for transforming the ensemble from its earliest days as a “lab choir” for graduate students to its current status as a nationally renowned, toptier chorus. Jean also serves as a member of the music education faculty, where her careful tutelage has benefited hundreds of future choral educators.
Lara A. Burton, Information Systems: Students consistently describe Lara A. Burton as knowledgeable, kind, engaging, inspirational, hilarious, and personally interested in each student’s success. For her, teaching is an act of service. Her versatility is remarkable, and she has taught introductory courses in information systems, management communications, creative writing, computer science, and biblical Hebrew.
