Hiring Procedures

☐ Take appropriate identification documentation to Staff Employment (D-70 ASB) to complete an I-9. Click here for a full list of acceptable documentation. *Please note that any laminated documents are not accepted.

☐ Complete your contract by following the instructions in the email sent by Staff Employment.

☐ Once your contract is approved, log in to myBYU at for access to class rolls, completion of your W4 form, and bank account information for direct deposit.

*Please note that in the following sections, some resources may or may not be available until your I-9 is processed*

Pre-arrival Preparation

I. Check with the department assistant on:

☐ Available office space.

☐ Class schedule and room numbers.

☐ Access to a computer and other technology support that you might need.

☐ Access to a BYU email address.

☐ Building and department mail-boxes/keys, after-hours access, copy machine codes, and generic office supplies.

II. Explore this website

☐ Review BYU Policy specific to faculty -

First Week of Employment

☐ Obtain your BYU ID card at the Benefits Office, D-240 ASB. Please note that you are required to submit your photo online by visiting or by clicking here.

Click here to register your vehicle, OR download the BYU app, choose “Explore”, and add “Parking” to your favorites. From there you can register, activate, and deactivate your vehicle(s). You may have to park in visitor parking your first day, or until your information is fully processed. For questions, contact BYU Parking Services, (801)422-3906.

☐ Set up Direct Deposit and Form W-4 by visiting Next navigate to the Direct Deposit page by searching Direct Deposit in the search bar. From there you can view/add/update accounts. To file Form W-4, click here. Next click on this icon

☐ Complete mandatory trainings:

☐ Ask to meet with your chair and discuss any needs, questions, or concerns that you may have including:

  • Information on student evaluations and how they apply to you
  • How and when you will be evaluated and by whom
  • Ways to connect with your department (invitations to department meetings, socials, newsletters, email list)
  • Funds available for professional development opportunities, etc
